Construction industry in Austria

Construction is one of the oldest and most traditional industries in Austria, and is considered as one of the foundations of the Austrian industry. In 2019, about 319.000 people in Austria were working in this industry. There are 37.923 registered companies in this area, which are mainly small companies. In 2018, more than ¾ of these companies, which makes up of 31.000 companies, had less than 10 employees, while only 82 companies employed more than 250 employees.
